FNSB Operations Update for the Central Recycling Facility

The CRF will RE-OPEN for business tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27th at 12 noon and will return to regular hours. COVID-19 mitigation plans are still in effect including one customer per vehicle to unload materials, wear a mask or cloth face covering, and maintain social distancing. Many thanks for your patience during this closure.

FNSB Operations Update for Wednesday, October 21st, 2020

Effective immediately, the borough's Central Recycling Facility located on Marika Road is *CLOSED* as of 2:30 pm today. This is due to another COVID-19 exposue via the operations contractor.

The facility will be closed until further notice.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and will provide an update on a reopening date soon.

We ask for your patience as we work with the operations contractor to keep everyone safe.

Please monitor the borough's website and social media for any updates.

Local Census Takers to Start Visits to Households on August 11th

(Fairbanks, AK) – Beginning August 11th, 2020 until October 31st, 2020, Local Census takers are scheduled to visit every household that has not already responded to the 2020 Census to ensure a complete and accurate count as part of the Non-response Follow up Operation (NRFU).

Census takers will visit each non-responding household and ask them questions from the Census and will record the answers on their secure Census Bureau smartphones.

If a family member is not home when the census taker visits, they will leave a notice of their visit with information about how to respond online or by phone. As necessary, they will make additional visits to collect responses from the household.

Borough residents are encouraged to cooperate with Census takers and ensure that everyone who was living in their household as of April 1, 2020, is counted. As a reminder, Census data is kept private and is not shared with any other branches of Government.

Census takers can be easily identified by a valid government ID badge with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark and expiration date on the badge.

The NRFU operation was originally scheduled for May 13 through July 31, 2020 however the schedule was adjusted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Census takers will follow local public health guidelines when they visit.
