[ARCHIVED] FNSB Launches NEW website

Mayor Bryce J. Ward Announces the Launch of the new Borough website

December 3, 2020 (Fairbanks, AK) – Borough Mayor Bryce Ward has issued the following statement on the official launch of the new Borough website

“The new website was designed with our users in mind and exemplifies the mission statement that we strive for to SERVE-LEAD-THRIVE” said Borough Mayor Bryce Ward.

The redesign of the borough website was long overdue, with planning beginning in 2019. The upgrade's reasons were simple – the previous borough website was not ADA compliant or mobile compatible, and it wasn't easy to find information. The new site has many new features that include a mobile-optimized design that will help citizens easily navigate and interact with content from any desktop computer, smartphone, or tablet, anytime and anywhere. There is a powerful and intuitive search ("How to Do I") feature placed prominently on the home page.

The new "software as a service" or SAAS platform was selected in order to reduce the Borough’s IT infrastructure footprint, improve resiliency of web-services and overall security – thus saving money and providing a better service.

While the public launch took place earlier this week, a "soft launch" began on November 23rd, 2020 for borough staff. Training for the maintenance and editing of content is ongoing. There are still some components of the new website that are under construction. The final migration of the information from the old site to the new site is expected to finish soon.

The public is invited to visit the new site. Feedback on the new site is encouraged. Send your comments to the Borough's Public Information Officer by phone at 907-459-1304 or via email:
